Dracula Untold Review

As the title claims, the movie “Dracula Untold” tells the untold story of the vampire Dracula. While you might liken the movie to Twilight, it is quite the opposite.

It is more a history lesson than an action movie, outlining how the Turkish Empire tried to take the infamous region, Transylvania, and how Vlad the Impaler (who later becomes Dracula) tried to prevent that from happening.

Vlad goes to great lengths to protect his homeland, which leads to his tragic end. Vlad seeks help from the Master Vampire (Charles Dance). The vampire gives him an option: he can be a vampire for three days, but, if he sucks someone’s blood during that period of time, then he will be a vampire forever.

Although the movie doesn’t really tell a great untold story of Dracula, it does have good action scenes and a twist ending. Unlike many action movies, there is actually a romantic sub-plot that also keeps viewers on their feet.

It also digs into Vlad the Impaler (Dracula)’s personal life. Not only does this give you more background about the blood sucker, it also creates a bond which can be best described as sympathetic. If you are looking for a fun 90-minute action fix, this is the movie for you. However, if you are looking for an award-winner, this is not it.
