“The Office” is back, it’s and as funny as ever. The sixth season of the show kicked off Sept. 17 with episode number 101, “Gossip”.
In the first episode of the season, Michael Scott starts a rumor about Stanley Hudson which he promises not to tell, though he already has. So he comes up with a plan to start a lot of fake rumors to get the rest of the office to disbelieve the first rumor.
In the process, Jim Halpert and Pam Beesley reveal their news to the office.
The episode was viewed by 8.1 million viewers which is a drop in viewers by 18 percent from last season’s season premiere.
Despite the drop in viewership, The Office got mainly positive reviews.
Rick Ingebritson of The Palm Beach Post said he was concerned that the pilot would not be as good as last season because many of the actors and actresses of “The Office” have been working on their acting careers outside of “The Office.”
“Thankfully, if Thursday’s premiere was any indication,” Ingebritson said, “it appears that the Dunder Mifflin crew still has a lot to offer.”
Rob Owen of The Pittsburg Post Gazette said “it’s a typically funny ‘Office’ episode that makes good use of most of the cast.”
