Fox News distorts reality, causes harm

Fox News has recently come under fire from President Obama’s spokesmen, for what they say is overt bias. Fox News made the point that MSNBC was also biased and yet the President didn’t say anything about them. This is true, but still Fox News is different.
The difference between Fox news and MSNBC is intent. Yes, MSNBC is definetly a liberal left wing news program, but it markets itself as “The Place for Politics”. Fox News on the other hand markets itself as “Fair and Balanced”.
Fox News argues that they have to criticize Obama because no one else is doing it, which to an extent is true; most other news stations have a liberal spin on things. And the channel MSNBC is known for its overt bias for Obama. Fox News, in my opinion, takes criticism to an extreme level.
In early September Obama addressed America’s students in a speech about staying in school and working hard. Fox news took this simple address and turned it into a issue. Fox news made it seem as if Obama’s speech was some form of indoctrination. This of course led some parents to ban their children from seeing the speech.
Fox news later backtracked after Obama gave the speech, when they realized it was not filled with simplified diagrams of a national healthcare plan meant to indoctrinate your children thus turning them into Obama zombies. Jokes aside, despite their backtracking the damage had been done. People who watch and believe all the things that Fox news says have yet another misconstrued view of Obama.
Fox News not only twists political issues but it also makes ad hominem arguments against Obama. Glenn Beck of Fox News accused Obama of being a racist. He said that. How ridiculous is that. And what’s really scary is that some people will believe that Obama is a racist.
What is worst about all this is some people believe Fox News. In my opinion it is the responsibility of a news organization to keep its viewers informed with reliable information.
It’s the fact that Fox News has little regard for the people that it isaffecting that has had people and even the President up in arms about the matter. Fox News has shown repeatedly that it has more concern about its ratings than the information it is  supplying its viewers.
