President Obama kicked off his second term with the 2013 State of the Union Address. His speech focused on domestic issues, along with a condemnation of yesterday’s North Korean nuclear test. The main focus was on job creation; the President called on Congress to increase minimum wage to $9/hour as well as to avoid the March 1 automatic spending cuts that are forecasted to throw the economy back into recession.
The President also proposed a plan to protect the nation’s electronic infrastructure from outside attacks, commended the bi-partisan plan for immigration overhaul, and pushed for increased gun control in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting.
