Steamroller Bagel and Deli

December 7, 2017

The bright yellow food truck may look like just any other food truck from a distance, but The Steamroller Bagel and Deli isn’t just any regular food truck. The Steamroller Bagel and Deli is a food truck that was started by Matthew Cobaugh in 2013. Although it has only been open for 4 years, the food truck has had amazing success.

“We sell primarily sandwiches, steamed bagel sandwiches, we have somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 different sandwiches to choose from,” Cobaugh said.

The Steamroller is best known for their steamed bagel sandwiches, which come in many different options or varieties.

“The best selling bagels are asiago, plain and everything,” Cobaugh said.

Although The Steamroller has bagel sandwiches, it also has regular bagels, which can be topped with many of the different kinds of cream cheese. The Steamroller has all 3 meals and speaking from personal experience, they are all equally great in taste and flavor.

“We’ve got 4 or 5 different kinds of lunch meats, 4 or 5 different kinds of sliced cheese, a number of different cream cheeses, vegetables and condiments,” Cobaugh said.

The Steamroller has anything from plain bagel with ham and cheese, to everything bagel with cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese, ham and turkey. This food truck has many different options to choose from.

“My favorite bagel we sell is either the Messy Violet, Caroline’s Conniption, or Tommy’s Temper,” Cobaugh said. “I also like the  Morning Fog, Erb State.”

These are Cobaugh’s favorites because the first 3 are named after his 3 children and they all have a lot of flavor and great taste.

“We sell from river to river. City Garden during Spring, Summer and Fall. On nice Winter days Wells Fargo, Purina, BJC hospital, Cardinal Glennon hospital” Cobaugh said.

The Steamroller has may different selling points. The most common area for them to sell is the City Garden, which is located right by Busch Stadium. The Steamroller also goes to locations out in the county along with many other food trucks.

I would 10/10 recommend trying The Steamroller Bagel and Deli. Whether you work around the locations of the selling points or you go to a food truck event. Speaking from personal experience, The Steamroller has food for all ages, whether it’s just a bagel and cream cheese or a sandwich packed with flavor, The Steamroller has it!
