New Bread Co. Review
October 7, 2014
For many CHS students, Saint Louis Bread Company is an essential part of life. Whether we go there for a quick pastry in the morning or for some Mac & Cheese during lunch, a Bread Co. is never far away from CHS and has a wide enough variety of menu options to satisfy everyone.
Some may have noticed the appearance of a new Bread Company next to the AMC Esquire on Clayton Road. The newest addition of the Saint Louis-based cafe is really just a move across the street from its old location, although the new building is larger, has a more modern look, and offers much more parking space.
The appeal of Bread Co. comes from a mix of convenience and high-quality food. Along with the Bread Co. Cares Community Cafe in Clayton, the Clayton location is close to Demun, Richmond Heights, and the Moorlands/Wydown Forest/Claverach Park area. Additionally, Bread Co’s Rapid Pick-Up system allows customers to place an order online (either on a computer or on the Panera app), pay, and pick up their food from a specific shelf at the restaurant. Bread Co. also offers a tasty menu, with everything from soups to paninis. My personal favorite is the Mac & Cheese (with a side of bread, of course) or the seasonal Strawberry Poppyseed & Chicken Salad.
Saint Louis Bread Co’s steps toward modernization have definitely helped it stay successful, and the cafe remains popular with CHS students. After all, when you can order a sandwich on your phone and pick it up 10 minutes later, you can grab a hearty meal without worrying about being late for class.

![“[I am passionate about] running and being part of a new community. Running is hard, but there’s so many things you can do to make it a lot more enjoyable. Everyone [on the team] is really nice and supportive. If you are feeling down they always lift you up and you can talk to them about anything. I always look forward to the end of the day and it gives me something fun to do with my people. My dad always tells me how pain is always temporary, and I always remember that while I'm running. [I apply this] not only to running, but also if I’m sad, it's not going to last forever and I'll get through it. I feel like I’m really dedicated to the things I do, and I feel good about where I’m at with extracurriculars. Mr. Holmes always tells me to make sure I’m managing my time well, and I feel like that is something I need to work on.”

![“I've been spending a lot of time with [Nick’s] family. It's good to not act like it didn't happen [and] to talk about it. I talk about him a lot with my friends, his family, and my family sometimes. It makes it a lot easier because when you feel like you can discuss it without it being weird, rather than focus on it through a sad lens, which, of course, is important. You can also focus on how amazing it is that this incredible person was able to lead an incredible life.”
