Knee injuries

Knees are the to change of direction, jumping, running, and many more actions.  When the knee is hurt, you are sidelined for anywhere from days to weeks to months.

The torn ACL is one of the most devastating injuries for an athlete in any sport.

Derrick Rose, star point guard for the Chicago Bulls, was in the playoffs and went down with a knee injury.  It was determined that he had torn his ACL and was then out for the entire next season. Then Derek Rose came back two seasons later and hurt his other knee.  Although it was not the ACL, he hurt his knee again and was out for the rest of the season.

However, sometimes people can come back from a knee injury and be better than they were.

Adrian Peterson hurt tore his ACL in the 2011 season and did not return until the 2012 season.  He then proceeded to almost break Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record.  This was one of the most successful returns from a knee injury ever seen in professional sports.  Adrian Peterson ruined the comeback from knee injuries.  Now all of the players in any sport that get knee injuries, are expected to return better or at least as good as they were when they obtained the injury.

From my own experiences with knee injuries, I can verify that the rehabbing process is very difficult.  There are endless hours of physical therapy and strengthening the muscles around the knee.  The process takes a long time and takes an eternity to get the knee back to normal.
