Adding an Infant

Recently at CHS, Algebra II teacher, Katelin Long, has announced that she is going to be a new mother. With that said, her due date is January 17; however, because of her Type 1 Diabetes, Mrs. Long maybe induced into labor as early as January 10.

She is expecting to have a daughter.

“Since my middle name is Elizabeth and my husband’s is Madison, we have decided that the baby’s name will be Madison Elizabeth Long,” she said. “My husband and I are really excited. [Personally,] I can’t wait to meet her … I’ve fallen in love with her already, and I haven’t even seen her. It’s a complicated emotion.”

Her husband is also a teacher (specifically a history teacher), and he shares the same thrill Mrs. Long has had. She simply expressed that he was ready and overjoyed to be a father.

Once Mrs. Long is ready to come back, which could be the week after winter break or sometime before fourth quarter, she plans to share the responsibility with her family and possibly daycare.

The math department and her family have both planned baby showers for her.

With the due date inching closer and closer, emotions in the family will grow more and more fervid. As a student, teacher, and or faculty members, one should congratulate and continue to support one of the most favorable teachers the schools has ever seen.
