“When I was going into my career, I did not want to work for the man. If you hear people talk about Gen X, I am definitely Gen X. I wanted to do something that was significant. I liked going to school. So then I was like, ‘What can I do?’ That sounds sort of like the service industry. Then my sister coached me on what kind of lifestyle [I wanted] to live?
I want to be able to move anywhere. What kind of jobs do that? Teaching and nursing. Teaching, way too hard to become a teacher. No thanks. But nursing, all right, I can do that. So then I became a nurse.”
