“I knew I wanted to help people, and I felt like I wasn’t achieving that goal at the job I had before here. I knew I liked high schoolers, teenagers, and that was like an age that I felt connected with and that I really could make a difference [with]. So I started looking at school social worker jobs, and I found this program that was brand new through friends I had that worked at Clayton. The Wellness Center was going to open and they were looking for staff. I was forwarded the posting, and I applied. I learned how amazing the space could be, the staff was going to be and how much faith the school had in building a positive school climate [for] mental wellness, all these things related to school and mental health that I was like, ‘Yes, this sounds like right up my alley.’”
