Cardinals Baseball Season

Another baseball season has come and gone here in Saint Louis, and our beloved Cardinals fell in the National League Divisional Series to our rivals, the Chicago Cubs.  Although the Cardinals season may be considered a failure due to the fact that we failed to reach the National League Championship Series, we need to look at the positives.

The Cardinals were one of the most injured teams in baseball due to the loss of Adam Wainwright, Matt Holliday, Carlos Martinez, and Jon Jay for the majority of the season.  Cardinals also lost rising star Oscar Taveras in a drunk driving accident in the offseason.

Despite injuries to over 18 players, the Cardinals still had the best record in baseball.

We saw the emergence of Tommy Pham, Stephen Piscotty, and Brandon Moss.  We saw pitcher Carlos Martinez emerge as a strong starter.  We also saw Matt Carpenter lead the team in home runs during the season.  We witnessed Jason Heyward slide effortlessly into the starting rotation.  Lastly, we saw the resilience of a team who should have only won 50% of their games win arguably the toughest division in baseball and be the winningest team in the game.

For this we should be proud.
