Owen Auston-Babcock

Owen Auston-Babcock, Senior Managing Editor

Owen is a senior at Clayton High School and is on his third year on Globe staff. You've probably seen Owen's name on the Globe's newsletter, which he maintains weekly. He also manages the Globe's social media sites and its website, serves as an editor within the publication and contributes reporting, primarily on local politics and social issues. Outside of the Globe, Owen is the president of the high school's Community Service Club and participates in environmental and political organizations outside of CHS.

In May 2022, Owen and his 2022 December issue cover story, "Unlivable Wages," won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award in the high school print category.

Prior to working at CHS, LaMadrid was an actuary and a college math instructor. During his 14 years in the school district, LaMadrid’s $26,000 salary has remained largely unchanged.
